A Return to Yin: Listening to the Body- Day 151: 365 Radical Self Love Project

After a short term back injury followed by a week away from home then a busy week back home, it was time for some yoga tonight.

My body was really craving some deep stretching and yin tonight was absolutely perfect. I knew I would have to take it easy as I re-integrated myself into the world of yoga and body movement. I could still sense a bit of tenderness in my back and so I surrendered.

I surrendered into allowing my body to guide my practice instead of my mind.

At one point we entered into a quad stretch with the option of a slight back bend. As I lowered into the posture I felt some compression in my lower back. I eased off immediately. A former way of being would have just had me push to my edge to avoid looking bad or from drawing any attention to me what so ever- at the expense of my health and wellbeing of my back.

Seeing I was not lowering into the back bend my beautiful instructor came to offer some support. I was tested again- I chose to share the truth with her about my recent injury and my choice to honour what my body was guiding me to do- which was to ease off the pose and reduce the stress on the back.

This action tonight was a huge win for my levels of confidence and self love. I chose to honour myself, what I needed regardless of how it occurred or appeared to others. The funny thing about this is the only person tuned into my practice was me, no one else was watching me or judging me.

This is a solid life lesson to take forward. Often the threats we perceive to be real are purely constructions of our own imagination. Everyone is so consumed with their lives we rarely actually take the time to sit in full judgement or consumption of another person’s life experience. We think we are the centre of everyone’s universe when in fact we are only the centre of our own. This frees up a lot of time and energy wasted on worrying about what other people think- a solid life lesson from the centre of my universe tonight- my yoga mat.

Grateful to be back, grateful to be in flow and grateful for the infinite intelligence of my body and spirit who were clearly sync’d up tonight šŸ˜‰

It’s Feature Friday With Yoga-Rockstar Will Blunderfield!! Day 133: 365 Radical Self Love Project

Waaahoooo!!! It’s Feature Friday Love Puffs!!!

Picture 54I am so freaking excited to introduceĀ Radical Self LovememberĀ Will Blunderfield!!!

Will is one of my all time favourite humans and I feel so blessed to get to share him and all his sparkly amazingness with you all today!

photo-48Will is an incredible musician and outstanding yoga teacher aka A Yoga RockstarĀ . He beams inspiration, self expression and acceptance where ever he goes. One of the most brilliant things about Will is his attitude. I freaking love it. The best way I can explain it is a no shit policy. He doesn’t accept things just because he “should” or because everyone else does. He is strongly connected to his inner compass, his hearts truth and refuses to compromise who he is or what he stands for. For this we absolutely adore him.

Right now we find ourselves in a place where more people than ever before are awakening. Awakening to their greatness, awakening to their truth and awakening to the illusions of fear. Will is one of the true leaders of this fundamental love movement. He is the catalyst for a lot of people to begin to challenge the status quo and all they have been told.

Why we LOVE him and why he’s our Featured Member today: Will lives by this principal: by living your truth and shining your light you give others the permission to do the same. He has designed his dream life and is living it.

It took dedication and passion and he did it. He wrote and released his first album, began touring locally then expanded into the international touring world. He is now beginning work for his next album. He’s truly living his yoga rockstar dream. He just returned from his second tour to Japan where he got to share his deliciously yummy perspectives on life, yoga and contribute his truly angelic voice into the hearts of the masses.

He is currently in the midst of fundraising for the new album and intends to donate 25% of the raised funds to Rain City Housing– which we are really impressed by. Will really does what it takes to really make a positive and significant impact on his community and we love that he has integrated a charitable initiative within his next album project!!!

Will has seamlessly fused together 3 of the things I love most, music, self expression and yoga. Attending his yoga classes is a solid pump up of inspiration, hilariousness, ridiculousness and deep heart activations. I know every time I head into one of Will’s class there will be loads of giggles, singing, stretching and going to my edge in a respectful and empowered environment.Ā Will is the same in a class as he is on the street or performing. He’s authentic through and through.

He reminds us that is beautiful to have imperfections and that these imperfections are what give us access to our inner power and our access point to really connect with each other.

WillsmileI see a lot of myself in this beautiful human and every time I have the honour of being in his presence I get sillier, more playful, more inspired and incredibly connected to who I truly am. This is the gift Will gives to the world and all who have the true pleasure of crossing his path.

He reminds me all the time life is too short to be living someone else’s dream and that step by step, little by little a dream we once held in our hearts begins to unfold before our eyes.

I am blessed to have such an incredible friend in my life who calls me to play bigger, shine brighter and live in alignment with who I truly am. Will you are appreciated and loved more than you know. Thank you for being this angel of lovey goodness and paving the way for more inspiration to be born into this world.

Getting in Flow With Yin Yumminess Day 32: 365 RSL Project

imgresYin yoga is seriously my all time favourite. It’s such a beautiful slow practice that really allows me to get into my body and to also really observe my mind.

After a 32 hour journey back to Vancouver from LA my body was really wanting some solid stretching and release. As per usual the poses our amazing instructor had us in were exactly the ones my body needed the most. Tonight’s class was extra meditative for me as I had set an intention to ‘get the communication of my body’. Meaning where ever there was tension or a block of energy in any of my muscles or joints I was open to receiving the underlying message my body was attempting to get me to see and understand.

The most prominent message tonight: Get back into balance.

Pretty simple. The past few weeks have really been busy and full of incredibleness. However inside of that I’ve really let my health routines slip. I am clear after tonights loving practice, getting my body back into a regular experience of movement and exercise is fundamental for all the incredibleness on it’s way.

So tonight I am so grateful for the Chopra Centre where the energy is just purrrrfect for my yoga practice, to my amazing yoga instructor Annika who always intuitively knows what poses my body needs, to myself for listening to the infinite wisdom of my body and for the harmony between my mind, body and spirit.

I am so happy to be home in this beautiful city and to charge up to the next level to really ROCK life! Giddy up šŸ˜‰
