How To Keep Up The Self Lovin On Vacation- Day 364: 365 Radical Self Love Project

radical self love kelsey grantVacations used to mean a free for all in my world- reckless abandon for my routines, health and well being. My late teens and early 20’s were seriously dedicated to being the life of the party and testing my body and mind to push to the limits of what was possible and healthy.

Having been consciously immersed into the world of Radical Self Love for the past year and a half my approach to vacations has dramatically shifted as well. Over the past year and a half I have come to really understand I love feeling good. My habits and routines are in place not to limit me or restrict me but to empower me into feeling good more of the time.

Eating really crappy food isn’t really much of a exciting thing anymore as my body reacts pretty intensely to large amounts of processed foods. Now this isn’t to say I never indulge. Of course I do- I just don’t over do it like I used to. Vacations used to be the time when I really would go over board and justify it to myself because hell, I was on vacation.

With my ever growing self confidence, self love and self value I’ve created a new way of vacationing for myself that clearly works and has me continue to rock out as my high vibin self.

How to keep up the self lovin on vacation

1. Pre planning.

A little planning goes a long way. In the case of this particular vacation the day before we left I was finishing up a 3.5 day juice cleanse. Knowing my body would have to be eased back into whole foods I made a declaration to our crew that I would be responsible for my own eats and then I did a little meal planning. I found a local natural/whole food market in one of the towns we drove through and stocked up on organic local produce and gentle whole foods that would compliment my cleanse and be easy to prepare.

Back in the day I likely would have had the same desire to eat clean but I would have been way to self conscious and insecure of voice my desires. What I learned this time around is no one else really cared that I wanted to do my own thing nor did anyone negatively question me. Because I owned it from a place of peace, inner alignment and love my positive inention was picked up by my peeps and respected.

2. Find the local gems.

Do a little research either before arriving or when you get there to suss out places that are in alignment with your lifestyle. Conveniently there is a raw, vegan, gluten free bakery literally down the street from where we are staying. We are in a seriously small town and I still managed to find an alternative that allows me to enjoy dessert just in a super healthy capacity. The gems are always around- it’s up to you to find them.

3. Stay active- just change it up.

My body is used to regular movement and exercise however often on vacation there isn’t a gym or yoga studio near by or accessible. Instead this morning I walked down to the lake set up on the dock, meditated for 30 minutes then followed it up with a 30 minute gentle yoga session. After breakfast I hit the hiking trails with my homies and rocked a mountain trail hike for 2 hours. There are always fun ways to get the body moving on vacation, swimming, playing, hiking, make shift yoga- the possibilities are there- it just takes you to open up to them.

4. Own what you need.

I run an online business, I LOVE writing. Just because I’m on vacation doesn’t mean I want to stop doing the things I derive value and joy from. I’m also not going to stop being of service to my community because I’m taking some time off. I set up my business to manage itself for the most part with just a few small check ins throughout my time away. I also communicate to the people I’ll be on vacation with, in advance, what my needs are. When I’m writing and being creative I’m really happy, which is why I do it every day- vacation is no exception. I don’t write because I have to I write because I love to. Big difference. To honour that which I love I just communicate to my peeps that each day at some point I’m going to sneak away for some solo creation time. I usually keep it to about an hour so I still have loads and heaps of time to play and enjoy the company of my amazing friends and family.

5. Enjoy life.

Yes yes yes! Vacations are meant to be fun and to fulfill the purpose of enjoying yourself. Enjoyment means different things to different people so get clear on what things make you super happy to do while you are on vacation and then just do them. I love listening to great music, writing, reading, swimming, tanning, running in nature, hiking, cooking, lounging, watching movies when it rains, eat ice cream, drink really really good vino, laughing, playing cards, creating something new, being a positive contribution to the local community- the list goes on and on. The point is to get to know you so you know exactly what enjoying life looks like and feels like to you!

Ultimately vacations can be an opportunity to further the self love vibes and keep those feel good practices in full swing. You are always the conscious creator of your experience and how things go really depend on one thing- YOU. Get clear on what you need to feel great and what you want to do and experience during your vacation, then communicate this information as clearly as you can to the people around you. Standing in your truth is one of the greatest acts of self love we could ever learn to do on the regular. The great thing is when you have surrounded yourself with the right people, honouring your needs will completely resonate with them and may just inspire them to invite more self lovin into their lives 😉

From Fear To Love In One Minute: Inspiration For Your Soul- Day 352: 365 Radical Self Love Project

Today my wonderful and inspiring partner posted a fabulous one minute video on his social media feed.

I personally am a big fan of Jim Carrey as he is a fabulous advocate for the human potential and power to create our experience through our activation of either fear or love.

I really dig it when people in the public eye use their platform to spread messages of inspiration, hope, possibility and love.

In this one minute video Jim anchors in some really solid perspective. “You can fail at what you don’t want so you might as well take a chance doing what you love”. I completely agree. We have just as much opportunity to create a live filled with abundance, connection and love as we do creating one filled up with lack a limitation.

The way your life unfolds is up to you. The outcomes you produce in your life are directly linked to the quality of thoughts, feelings and actions you repetitively cultivate. At any given time you are either in the domain of fear or the domain of love.

RSL actionable to shift from fear to love in no time: Ask better, more empowered questions from life. Instead of saying “Why me?” take your power back and replace the lack mindset with a better question:

  • “What inside me is trying to emerge through this challenge?”
  • “What am I being called to learn, grow or strengthen within me”
  • “What can I do to be in alignment with my truth, with my desires and with my dreams”.

Interested in better results? Ask better questions. Let yourself be inspired on the regular. Make your top priority feeling good aka being in alignment. To help out on the feeling good and inspired quest, watch this lovely one minute vid!

Returning To My Mat- Reconnecting To My Body- Day 319: 365 Radical Self Love Project

After a 3 week hiatus of healing the body I finally got to return to my yoga mat today!!!

It felt so incredible to be back in the yoga studio, soaking up all the amazing feel good vibes and really getting present with my body.

These three weeks of pretty intense self reflection and stillness have had a profound impact on my practice. I found it so much easier today to tune into my body and really feel into my muscles and be clear where I was holding tension. I also found it much easier today to relax into the posture and begin surrendering into the posture and releasing the tension in my muscles.

Not surprising my shoulders, hips and side body were the tightest and after an hour long practice I felt completely intune and aligned in my body. I am grateful for this time away from my mat as it has really made me appreciate how much my body is responsive to my yoga practice.

I’m so happy to be back in the studio and so so so happy to be tuned in and back in full swing with my yummy yoga practice.

Feeling pretty blessed and very grateful ❤

Some Days You Just Gotta Rest- Day 306: 365 Radical Self Love Project

Today I woke up not feeling so hot.

radical self love kelsey grantThe past few days I had been a bit under the weather but still had enough energy to go through my days and accomplish tasks that needed to be completed. This morning however I awoke with body acheyness and I new this was a sign from my body to chill out and take a couple steps back.

Upon waking up I made a slow emergence out of bed and hopped right into a delicious 25 minute meditation. One of my greatest access points to healing on all levels is a regular stillness and meditation practice. In my meditations I will often receive guidance for my day and today the guidance was simple, juice and rest.

After making my way out of our room I snuggled up on the couch and fell back asleep. The body always knows what it needs to heal, the challenge sometimes is quieting the mind. I let myself rest.

When I awoke I made a massive immune boosting juice with beets, carrots, oranges, ginger and apple. Paired with some kombucha and water I was set for a few hours.

Today I let myself rest work wise too. I read and did a little bit of writing for the ebook and just maintained stillness as much as possible.

Now into the evening I have a few calls to complete and when they are finished it will be juicing round 2 this time green detox juice and hopping into bed early. I often ponder when life slows me down like this “What am I meant to learn or see that I am currently not seeing?” “How can I nourish my body, mind and spirit to feel better and better?” These two questions often set me right on the path for receiving all the answers required to resetting my vibes and healing my body.

If your body is calling for rest, nourishment or just some loving attention today give in and give yourself exactly what you need to be at your best- wherever that is today!

Spirituality and Body Image- DAY 283: 365 Radical Self Love Project

Spiritual Guides To Healing Our Body Image

A fellow RSL member reached out to me the other day to request any books about positive body image.

The first person who came to my mind was the lovely Gabby Bernstein.

I would recommend both Spirit Junkie and May Cause Miracles.

Gabby teaches through her real life experiences with spirituality and body image in both of these books.

Additionally I would recommend Doreen Virtue’s book Constant Craving and her audio program Healing Your Appetite, Healing Your Life- A Spiritual Approach to Life and Weight Management.

And of course the ever amazing lady to started this entire spiritual community Louise Hay. Her book You Can Heal Your Life is a must have.

I also tracked down a really great interview Gabby did a while back which touches on body image from a spiritual perspective. I love all of these authors and speakers and have really resonated with each of these books/programs. I have gone through each one and I can say with full certainty these gems certainly helped along my path of self love, self acceptance and developing a more body positive self image.

Happy Exploring ❤

Lessons of a 21 Day Yoga Challenge- Day 274: 365 Radical Self Love Project

Yesterday marked the completion of the 21 day yoga challenge.

I did not complete it as designed and I am totally ok with it.

Here is why:

During this challenge I was brought face to face with something within myself- my ego’s desire to look good. It became very clear to me that my major intention for doing this challenge was to prove to myself I could do it because doing it would make me look good to others in my life.

gentleWell thats all fine and dandy if I had made the choice while taking into consideration of all my other life commitments I had going on at the same time too- AND taking into consideration if the classes offered at the studio would actually harmoniously fit into my jammed schedule. Turns out they didn’t.

For the first week I really stressed myself out to get to yoga- completely anti-yoga- I know, I know 😉

The second week I loosened the reigns on myself and my egos super tight “looking good” grip.

I tuned into what my body actually needed.

I gave myself permission to be flexible, creative and honour my needs

6 Days straight of hot yoga, 1 hot yin class and 1 meditation a week just weren’t working for my body. It was too intense. My schedule didn’t really jive with the studio schedule and the hot classes were pretty much all I could make happen.

When I tuned into what my body wanted everything changed.
  • One day my body was craving a run- so instead of stressing to get to the studio I put on my runners and ran the seawall and enjoyed every second of it.
  • Other days my body craved meditation sessions- so I would load myself up with crystals and zen out in my living room.
  • And other days I made it to my mat in the studio.

I lost track of the amount of classes I took and there were days when I showed up for class and actually forgot about putting a star on the wall chart.

What I “got” about that was it was no longer about the recognition or putting a sticker on the wall (aka listening to the intensity of my ego) it was now about listening to my intuition, my body and my heart. I let my heart guide me day to day to the exact situation that would be best for me in the moment.

I’m so happy I did the challenge because it gave me even deeper perspective, a clearer understanding of my ego and the opportunity to surrender into my path and make the incredible call of what honestly works best for me.

Next time there is a yoga challenge I’ll be sure to put more thought and intention into whether I can honestly make it work or not. Until then I have a wonderful new practice of getting to practice 4-5 times a week. Perhaps that was part of the learning and lesson too 😉

Back to the mat and back to my heart ❤

Why Achieving Your Intentions is Great For Your Relationship-Day 237: 365 Radical Self Love Project

Well I did it, completed 55 miles in the gym by Valentines Day! YEAAAAA ME!!

images-1In my final gym session before Valentines day I completed the last 3.67 miles required to hit my target outcome, and it felt gooooood!

Since I gave my word to rock a week of relationship posts it got me thinking about the relationship between the intentions we set for ourselves and the success of our romantic relationships.

Why Achieving Your Intentions is Great For Your Relationship

1. You feel accomplished.

There is just a whole world of gooooood vibes associated with accomplishing things we have set our minds and hearts to. When we are rockin out on the high vibe train we are more enjoyable to be around. People wanna feel good and when you are vibin high and feeling proud, accomplished and in celebration mode that energy rubs off on others and it inspires and influences their energetic state. If they are feeling lower your pure positive vibes will help turn their frown upside down, if they are feeling good it will amplify the goodness and you both benefit. Either way both people win.

2. You come into greater alignment with yourself.

When you give your word to you and keep it you begin to build a greater sense of trust, integrity and self reliance within yourself. When you trust yourself you more easily trust others. When you are in integrity with yourself you attract people who are also in integrity, when you know you can count on yourself you stop putting the icky vibes of neediness onto others. When it comes to romantic relationships this is HUGE. When you trust yourself you will naturally be more trusting with your partner and that is the biggest foundation all solid relationships have in common- each partner is a trustworthy individual (they are self reliant, stay true to their integrity and trust themselves on a deep level). It is in this energy they create so much space to enjoy each other, create together and focus on things that bring out the best in them and their relationship.

img-thing

3. When you play BIG you call your partner to step up their game.

This is fabulous when we are in relationships. Relationships fall into one of two categories. The first being relationships defined by two people who constantly default to old patterns and dysfunctional ways of being with zero intention of changing OR the second type of relationships where both people are always stepping up their internal game, constantly on the path of becoming better versions of themselves and who are willing to change patterns, behaviours and habits that do not serve the highest good. When you set an intention and achieve it you call your partner to look into their life and find ways to strive to be better versions of themselves. This also has a massive subconscious impact for your partner. When you demonstrate your ability to follow through you train them to see you and relate to you as a high vibin supportive partner. When you pave the way first you unconsciously demonstrate your ability to support them in “levelling up” and know they are supportive as they keep playing big.

4. It gives you more productive things to talk about.

Following the last point when we are in a relationship where we are being called to be our best versions the things we talk about and focus on change to a higher frequency. We begin to have “real talk” with each other about our fears, our challenges, our vulnerabilities, our wins, our strengths and our visions for the future. You setting a goal and achieving it brings such a positive focus to your relationship’s communication. What we talk about we bring about, so the more positive our communication the more positivity we will create.

Open your heart tonight and tune in to a goal or intention your heart would love to achieve. Then give your word to yourself to accomplish it. Set realistic targets and timelines to set yourself up for success. Start small and work your way up from there! You got this love face!! xo

For all of you lovers who are interesting in taking your relationships to the next level and want to join us for a 9 Week Radical Self Love Relationship Journey send me an email @ rsl@kelseygrant.com and I’ll hook ya up with the course details and how to register if it all vibes with your heart’s calling ❤

New Years Miles- Still Rockin It- Day 214: 365 Radical Self Love Project

It’s my third week of my new years miles goal of 55 miles of exercise completed by V day.

This week I added another 5.05 miles to the total making my three week total = 29.99!!!

I have to say I am pretty darn proud of myself for keeping up and staying true to my goal.

One interesting observation I made tonight while looking over my data was this- out of the three weeks this was my lowest week of miles. It got me thinking about my week and how incredibly challenging this week was.

It is safe to make the conclusion that when I am experiencing challenge or upset in my life the one thing I know to do to get my vibes back up- I don’t do.

It was a fascinating and liberating realization.

Do the best you can until you know better Then when you know better do betterWhen you know better you do better. With this new awareness I can now approach times of challenge from this higher vantage point. I can recall this experience and remember how fabulous I was feeling and how in flow I was when I was getting more miles in. Then when things started to dip I got less miles in.

After reflecting on this I am so very present to this: my flow, inner freedom, happiness and joy is intrinsically linked with taking physical actions to care for my body and nourish myself. It makes logical sense and being in the world of self love I know this, and know I KNOW it on a whole new level. A more profound level, a more powerful level.

So it is will blessings and gratitude I release my last week and embrace this beautiful week again. In this space of acceptance, awareness and freedom I am creating a fabulous week ahead, filled with abundant flow, high vibing activities, nourishing actions and getting those new years miles in!!

A Little Yin and A Lotta Love- Day 207: 365 Radical Self Love Project

Tonight I rocked my usual 8:15 Yin yoga class.

After completing 13.14 miles this week in the gym it was time to give my muscles a treat and surrender into a hot yin class.

The postures tonight were absolutely perfect for the muscles I had just worked out and to complete the class in a hot room allowed me to really relax and surrender into each posture.

yin3

A beautiful added bonus tonight.

The room was filled with some of my soul family tribe. Doing yoga is awesome, and there is something even more amazing about it when done with friends and family in a vibe of love.

After class we caught up, shared stories, laughed, took pictures and smothered eachother in hugs and love. The most perfect way to wrap up my night and complete yet another successful week toward my goal of 55 miles by Valentines!! So far I have completed 23.94 miles in 14 days! Yeaaaa budday!

I have a sense I may meet my target sooner than later if I keep up this level of progress!

Major gratitude to the studio, to my teacher and to my beautiful soul family who are always an incredible contribution to my experience. I love you all dearly ❤
