Sunshine, Smooches And A Whole Lot Of Love- Day 295: 365 Radical Self Love Project

What an absolutely perfect first day back together today!

We had a nice leisurely start to the morning, enjoyed the sunshine filling up our bedroom this morning, laughed snuggled and just enjoyed staying in bed longer than usual.

After a breakfast of fresh raw juice and gluten free blueberry and banana pancakes we set out on our day adventure.

We walked to a coffee shop we had never been to together did some reading and enjoyed delicious coffee. Then our long walk began.

In total we rocked a 10km walk and adventured to new places and soaked up the sun, fresh air and the gloriousness of each others company.

After some smooches and selfies we made our way home to relax, make dinner and have a super chill night just lovin all over each other!

I am so grateful to have him back and this time apart truly strengthened our bond and we are clear more than ever just how “in” this relationship we both are and how deeply committed we both are to the success of our partnership- such a massive win!

Self Love and Self Care Fill Up Day- Day 275: 365 Radical Self Love Project

To keep myself in tip top energetic, spiritual, emotional and mental form I take frequent personal development days.

These are days where self love and self care are number 1 priority.

Today was that day for me today.

I spent the morning with my man- we had a nice casual wake up with the sun beaming on our faces, took a lil morning walk to the store, got coffee, came home and made a fabulous breakfast- banana chocolate chip gluten free pancakes. YUM

Then when he left for work I decided to take the day for my self care.

I did a little cleaning and organizing.

A little work- mostly brainstorming and creative sparking work.

Then I rocked an afternoon seawall run.

Took some beautiful pictures and finished it off with a stellar meditation in the mini forest a few blocks from my house. I found this massive boulder overlooking the ocean, put on a meditation track and sat in stillness and honest bliss.

radical self love kelsey grantDuring my meditation all the people I sensed walking by the rock I was sitting on I beamed energetic love and blessings to. Then I hopped back on the seawall and finished the last leg of my run.

Days like this are not a luxery they are a neccessity. For me to really show up for life, show up for my clients, show up for my friends, show up for my family and show up for my partner I have to first show up for myself. I know when I need KG fill up time and it happens every week.

Every week I take time to fill up my tank. I don’t always get an entire day like today but I always make time for at least a few hours each week to fill my heart and soul right back up onto the high vibe train.

When I do this my creativity soars, my intuition is sharper and more attuned, I’m way more productive and I am so much easier to get along with 😉

Your self care is important and if it isn’t a top priority yet that’s ok- we are all works in progress- start where you are at. If you can fit in 30 minutes a week just for you start there and work your way up. Make yourself your priority and by doing so the rest of your world will begin to thrive BIG time!

Alex and I connected first through an event I work each year called Awesomeness Fest– he was one of our delegates last year in Bali and from there our paths crossed. As a fellow Afester I knew we would share a lot of common ground as all peeps in the Afest tribe are up to some pretty inspiring and impactful work in the world- it’s one of the requirements! Since getting to know Alex over this past year he certainly had surpassed my expectations of a human doing incredible heart centred and inspired work for this world.

Why Achieving Your Intentions is Great For Your Relationship-Day 237: 365 Radical Self Love Project

Well I did it, completed 55 miles in the gym by Valentines Day! YEAAAAA ME!!

images-1In my final gym session before Valentines day I completed the last 3.67 miles required to hit my target outcome, and it felt gooooood!

Since I gave my word to rock a week of relationship posts it got me thinking about the relationship between the intentions we set for ourselves and the success of our romantic relationships.

Why Achieving Your Intentions is Great For Your Relationship

1. You feel accomplished.

There is just a whole world of gooooood vibes associated with accomplishing things we have set our minds and hearts to. When we are rockin out on the high vibe train we are more enjoyable to be around. People wanna feel good and when you are vibin high and feeling proud, accomplished and in celebration mode that energy rubs off on others and it inspires and influences their energetic state. If they are feeling lower your pure positive vibes will help turn their frown upside down, if they are feeling good it will amplify the goodness and you both benefit. Either way both people win.

2. You come into greater alignment with yourself.

When you give your word to you and keep it you begin to build a greater sense of trust, integrity and self reliance within yourself. When you trust yourself you more easily trust others. When you are in integrity with yourself you attract people who are also in integrity, when you know you can count on yourself you stop putting the icky vibes of neediness onto others. When it comes to romantic relationships this is HUGE. When you trust yourself you will naturally be more trusting with your partner and that is the biggest foundation all solid relationships have in common- each partner is a trustworthy individual (they are self reliant, stay true to their integrity and trust themselves on a deep level). It is in this energy they create so much space to enjoy each other, create together and focus on things that bring out the best in them and their relationship.

3. When you play BIG you call your partner to step up their game.

This is fabulous when we are in relationships. Relationships fall into one of two categories. The first being relationships defined by two people who constantly default to old patterns and dysfunctional ways of being with zero intention of changing OR the second type of relationships where both people are always stepping up their internal game, constantly on the path of becoming better versions of themselves and who are willing to change patterns, behaviours and habits that do not serve the highest good. When you set an intention and achieve it you call your partner to look into their life and find ways to strive to be better versions of themselves. This also has a massive subconscious impact for your partner. When you demonstrate your ability to follow through you train them to see you and relate to you as a high vibin supportive partner. When you pave the way first you unconsciously demonstrate your ability to support them in “levelling up” and know they are supportive as they keep playing big.

4. It gives you more productive things to talk about.

Following the last point when we are in a relationship where we are being called to be our best versions the things we talk about and focus on change to a higher frequency. We begin to have “real talk” with each other about our fears, our challenges, our vulnerabilities, our wins, our strengths and our visions for the future. You setting a goal and achieving it brings such a positive focus to your relationship’s communication. What we talk about we bring about, so the more positive our communication the more positivity we will create.

Open your heart tonight and tune in to a goal or intention your heart would love to achieve. Then give your word to yourself to accomplish it. Set realistic targets and timelines to set yourself up for success. Start small and work your way up from there! You got this love face!! xo

New Years Miles- Still Rockin It- Day 214: 365 Radical Self Love Project

It’s my third week of my new years miles goal of 55 miles of exercise completed by V day.

This week I added another 5.05 miles to the total making my three week total = 29.99!!! 

I have to say I am pretty darn proud of myself for keeping up and staying true to my goal.

One interesting observation I made tonight while looking over my data was this- out of the three weeks this was my lowest week of miles. It got me thinking about my week and how incredibly challenging this week was.

It is safe to make the conclusion that when I am experiencing challenge or upset in my life the one thing I know to do to get my vibes back up- I don’t do.

It was a fascinating and liberating realization.

Do the best you can until you know better Then when you know better do betterWhen you know better you do better. With this new awareness I can now approach times of challenge from this higher vantage point. I can recall this experience and remember how fabulous I was feeling and how in flow I was when I was getting more miles in. Then when things started to dip I got less miles in.

After reflecting on this I am so very present to this: my flow, inner freedom, happiness and joy is intrinsically linked with taking physical actions to care for my body and nourish myself. It makes logical sense and being in the world of self love I know this, and know I KNOW it on a whole new level. A more profound level, a more powerful level.

So it is will blessings and gratitude I release my last week and embrace this beautiful week again. In this space of acceptance, awareness and freedom I am creating a fabulous week ahead, filled with abundant flow, high vibing activities, nourishing actions and getting those new years miles in!!

Double Yoga Bliss: My New Commitment to Health- Day 172: 365 Radical Self Love Project

Last night I made a new commitment to myself.

I made a commitment to make my health and fitness one of my top priorities again.

In all honesty it totally has been slacking and I haven’t been doing what I know I need to to keep my body in top optimal functional levels.

Every new journey begins with a single step and I’m taking it day by day. I have found this is a structure that truly sets me up for success. When I get too far ahead of myself I freak myself out and become overwhelmed, and when I become overwhelmed I stop taking action in attempt to somehow gain control.

bikini-countdown-s3-photo-of-woman-working-outKnowing this about myself I can come at it from a space of flexibility and self respect. I know what works for me and that is taking it one day at a time. The commitment is to do some form of physical activity to strengthen my heart, my lungs, my muscles and detox the body. This could mean one day I’m at the gym, the next I’m at yoga or anything else that gets my heart rate up and my endorphins flowing.

Today it looked like a double yoga class. I headed to a hot hatha class and followed it up with a warm yin class a few hours later. This was exactly what my body needed. A nice workout then a deep stretching session.

It’s Canadian Thanksgiving- What Are You Grateful For? Day 114: 365 Radical Self Love Project

radical self love kelsey grantToday it is Canadian Thanksgiving and my most favourite holiday of the year!!

I love the colours of fall, I love the coziness of the season, I love bringing family together, I love massive family dinners and most of all I love being thankful.

At least from my vantage point in life there is a whole lotta good to be grateful for. I like most sometimes forget. I get caught in the busy-ness of life and occasionally my gratitude practice wavers. Today is a beautiful reminder to re-presence myself to the abundant blessings within my life and the expansive freedom maintaining a regular gratitude practice ushers in.

Since our family tribe is rockin our family dinner tomorrow I took today to take it slow and re-tune into the beauty in my life. This is how my day shaped up:

  • I stayed and snuggled in my warm bed this am with the bright sun shining through the windows.
  • I spent the first 30 mins of being awake watching this gem of a video and having my heart chakra blasted open: 
  • I got up did a lil work, seriously I only spent 45 minutes working this am 😉
  • Made a green smoothy.

  • Picked up dinner items for an untraditional Thanksgiving dinner tonight: Home made gluten free PIZZA
  • Came home set up our official Meetup group page, our Youtube channel and completed a few admin tasks.

Meow I’m off to make a beautiful dinner, catch up with my poppa and have a super relaxing evening with my roomies and my man!!

My Journey Towards a Healthier & More Positive Relationship to Food Day 45: 365 RSL Project

A huge part of my Radical Self Love journey has involved the incorporation of high vibrational and healthy foods.

I have learned what I put into my body has a direct correlation to what I get out of my body (and mind) and knowing this  has truly helped me develop a more positive self image and enables me to make more aligned and healthy choices when it comes to fuelling my vessel.

Food hasn’t always been an such a positive experience for me. For years I struggled with body image and having a pretty dysfunctional relationship to food. The youngest memory I have of this negative self image was when I was in 4th grade and thought I was fat. From there I created years and years of challenge and struggle with food.

In my early 20’s after my main party phase had come to an end something inside of me urged me to make some pretty serious life changes. I left a dysfunctional relationship, went back to school, completed my degree and began to learn about health and fitness. From there I was able to (with years of dedication and focus) to shift my habits with food, thus significantly changing my physical body.

When my physical body was in the most optimal shape I had ever been in I was urged again by this little voice/guidance system within to go to the next level. This meant going inward into the patterns of my mind and really starting the journey of self awareness, personal growth and development. It was in this learning where I began to see that the ongoing negative self talk I had really made me feel shitty, and when I felt shitty I would just eat foods that mirrored my internal state of crappy feelings. Food was an emotional escape from having to really get real with how I was talking to myself and treating myself on the inside.

As I developed a more loving and positive relationship to myself my food choices naturally shifted. No extreme diets, no crazy exercise plans. It came down to this question:

If I really loved myself would I eat what I’m about to eat knowing the impact it will have on my state of mind and my body?

When I checked in with myself if the food choice was going to benefit my growth and leave me honestly feeling better (physically, emotionally, spiritually) then I would do it. If any of those three weren’t met I would make a different choice which allowed me to stay on the path of feeling good.

This doesn’t mean that I never ate junk food again (I love chips and there is a good chance I always will). All this meant was I no longer was eating to avoid feeling the emotions I was experiencing. It meant that if I did want to eat some chips I would and I would feel happy and empowered about it. It also usually meant I would eat less of the crappy foods and eat more of the high vibin foods that left me feeling lighter and brighter.

imagesThere are days when it still surfaces and I really am challenged with viewing my body through a positive and empowered lens. When these moments arise I acknowledge them, I thank them for being and I revoke their invitation to stay and take over my experience. I have new coping mechanisms such as yoga and juicing which help nourish me on every level even when shit hits the fan.

This new perspective also birthed something I never imagined- A passion for cooking and creating beauty with food.  For the past 8.5 years I have immersed myself with learning new techniques, new cultures and mastering my ability to positively cook with intention. All the food I now make, I ensure I am vibin in a state of love and gratitude BEFORE I ever being the process of creation. I allow my skill of attention to detail, my values of high quality and my desire to make sure people are really taken care of to shape the experience of food creation.

Tonight I was blessed with the opportunity to do something I honestly love and prepare food for those I love. I rocked a beautiful summer salad with the best ingredient I know ~ LOVE 😉photo

Sunday Funday!! Day 23: 365 RSL Project

Today dear friends is Sunday Funday, a day dedicated to having fun and loving all over my life!

photo copy 2The morning started with an early morning KG date fully equipped with my lap-top, coffee, 1.5L of water, a sunny patio and RSL inspiration to the max.

I spent 3 hours writing blog posts, Radical Self Love articles for two new websites I’m a featured columnist for and writing another chapter of my Radical Self Love relationship ebook!!

Then I did a lil shopping to prepare for my LA performances this week, set up multiple meetings to discuss the sharing of RSL into community programs across Canada, scoped out some new places to live with the BF and now here I am writing to you all!

This afternoon I’m going to hit a seawall run/workout, sing and play my guitar and go read in the delicious sun for a few hours before finishing the day off with the best boyfriend in the world!

I am seriously so in love with my life and I am incredibly grateful to share this journey of Radical Self Love with you all!
