Love VS Fear Day 227: 365 Radical Self Love Project

Today we kicked off our Dream Bigger Extravaganza! I am so freaking blessed to be a part of this incredible community of teachers and thought leaders. I found out this morning that my interview will close out this incredible 12 day event, and even more exciting my interview is going live on Valentines Day!

etsy-candy-heart-photoWhat a wonderful way to bring conscious attention to what love truly is. I’m not opposed to Valentines day as in it’s essence, is a day dedicated to the celebration of love, is a pretty wonderful thing. I think over the years it has become highly over commercialized and has lost touch with the true meaning- which is to re-presence us to the beauty of love that always exists within us and between us.

Given this was on my mind it was no coincidence that my lovely friend Danielle Dowling posted this Cherokee teaching about the difference between love and fear.

The Cherokee Legend on LOVE vs. FEAR:

two-wolvesAn old Cherokee is teaching his grandson about life. “A fight is going on inside me,” he said to the boy.

“It is a terrible fight and it is between two wolves. One is evil – he is anger, envy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and ego.”

He continued,

“The other is good – he is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion, and faith. The same fight is going on inside you – and inside every other person, too.”

The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather, “Which wolf will win?”

The Grandfather smiled and quietly said, “The one I feed.”

I absolutely love this legend. It is so profound and incredibly sobering. Our experience and perception of a love filled world remains in our capacity to cultivate the goodness within us. When it comes to this time of year when LOVE is on most people’s radar and certainly on all the media’s radar it is a HUGE opportunity to remind ourselves what love is and what it isn’t. Once we become present to what love is, we can begin to cultivate more love within us, which then leads to the generation of more love outside of us.

We have to become aware of the two wolves within us and CHOOSE to feed the one who brings us into harmony with ourselves and each other. We must learn to choose love over and over and over.

For the next 11 days we’ll be choosing love over fear at our Dream Bigger Extravaganza! If you feel like joining us and soaking up the goodness scoop up your free spot here: http://bitly.com/1ePjfST
